GUIDELINES FOR BTFS (BIOTECHNOLOGY FINISHING SCHOOL) PROGRAM
Biotech Industry in the State has shown shortage of Industry-ready Graduates and Post Graduates of life sciences. In this regard, KBITS, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka, with support from Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi and ABLE (Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises) has initiated BTFS (Biotechnology Finishing School) program to educate and empower young human resource required for the biotech industry. In the Millennium Biotech Policy-II, Government of Karnataka has established 12 BT Finishing Schools with appropriate course content and duration to graduates and post-graduates, to make them industry-ready. BTFS program is currently in its 4th successful year and the preparations for its 5th year have begun. BT Finishing Schools have been established under the following criteria and guidelines :Optional Subjects in 3 Biotechnology Sectors

In addition to the above the following shall be mandatory subjects: a) Documentation / Data Analysis and Communication Skills b) Review of developments pertaining to Biotechnology, Nanotechnology & Clinical Research. More emphasis will given to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the subject areas mentioned above.

- Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum of 50% in Masters degree from Universities of the state or any other University recognized as equivalent in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses.
- Minimum of 50% in B.E. / B.Tech. – Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary, MBBS and BDS (Minimum of 4 year degree in Life Sciences)

Candidates who have pursued Veterinary (BVSc & M V SC) , MBBS, MD, BDS and MDS are eligible only for BTFS Domains listed below.
d) Cellular & Molecular Diagnostics (CMD) - School of Life Sciences, Manipal and The Oxford College of Sciences, Bangalore.
e) Pre-clinical, Clinical Research, Biostatistics & Data management (PCDM) - PES University, Bangalore and Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Bangalore
f) Bioinformatics & Rational Drug Design (BRD) - Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur and Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Bangalore
- B.Sc degree holders with 50% aggregate are eligible only for Plant Tissue Culture & Micropropagation (PTC) domain at MMAS - Sirsi & St. Aloysius College - Mangalore.

Candidates who have appeared for the their final exams can also apply but have to produce your final semester/ year marks cards or computer print out of your online declared results or provisional degree certificate at the time of counseling and also submit your final semester/ year marks card before BTFS course commencement.

- Course Fee Structure:
- Fees for the 12 months' program shall not exceed Rs.50,000/- per student.

A sum of Rs.10,000 (non-refundable) to be paid by DD in favour of MD KBITS during the time of counselling and Rs.40,000 to be paid directly to the chosen BTFS host institution as per the dates mentioned in the Enrollment for BTFS Batch V.
